Last week, I shared an idea that surprised a lot of people.
Not because they don’t need funding.
Not because they aren’t doing important work.
But because no one has helped them build the foundation that comes before seeking funding.
It sounds simple. But it’s one of the most important questions a nonprofit can answer. Too often, I hear responses like:
Those statements are true. But they don’t tell the whole story.
Funders don’t invest in organizations because they serve “everyone.” They invest in organizations that clearly understand whom they exist to serve and why their work matters.
The answers shape everything that follows. Your programs. Your partnerships. Your fundraising. Your grant proposals. Your impact.
That clarity is what becoming Grant-Ready™ is all about.
You can’t make a compelling case for funding until you can clearly name the people whose lives will be changed by it.
